Volunteer Opportunities for 2024 Are Now CLOSED.

Beginning now and for the next few weeks we need your help with promotions.

This includes poster distribution, social sharing, and helping us get the word out about the festival we all love. So how can you help?

  • Distribute official Suncoast Jazz Festival promotional materials, such as posters, to your community, local businesses, or events. To learn more about distribution email us for details.

  • Share our eBlasts and social posts and spread the word. Follow us on Facebook and sign up to receive our eBlasts keep up-to-date about all things festival.

  • Talk with neighbors, friends, and work associates. Let’s get everyone to the festival for a great jazzy time.

Working at the Suncoast Jazz Festival

Volunteer Benefits

All our beloved volunteers receive festival perks.

  • ( 1 ) 3 day General Admission festival ticket

  • Free Jazz Festival parking is available at the Sand Key Park for all those not staying at the Sheraton.  Transportation between Sand Key Park and Festival venues will be provided Friday between 10:30 and 12:45am and Saturday 8:30 and 12:45am.

  • ( 2 ) 50% Off festival coupons to give to first time attendees

  • Jazz-Up Party meet and greet where you will

    • Socialize with other volunteers

    • Meet your chairperson and receive a briefing outlining your duties

    • Pick up your schedule

    • Enjoy light snacks and beverages

    • Jazz-Up Party: Wednesday, October 30th, 2024, 5:30pm-7:30pm

Event Volunteer Registration

Terms

  • We ask all volunteers to register online.

  • Sign up closes November 8, 2024.

  • All positions require 12 hours of volunteer work in exchange for the 3 day General Admission pass to the festival.

  • All volunteers must attend the volunteer meeting Wednesday, October 30th, from 5:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m. to meet with the volunteer chairs. Light refreshments will be served. This year, the volunteer meeting will be held at the Elks Lodge #2159 at 810 16th Avenue SE, Largo, FL 33771.

  • Must purchase a festival t-shirt at cost (approx. $10) and wear it during each shift.

  • Must be able to perform responsibilities for your selected area as indicated.

  • Lastly, we will do everything possible to honor your requested shifts.  However, some requested shifts may not be available.

Event Volunteer Opportunities

Listed below are the volunteer opportunities. Thank you for considering being a part of the festival’s success!

When you apply, you will identify your service choices and availability. We will do our best to assign you your first choice, however your selected times may not be available. All positions require 12 hours of volunteer work in exchange for the 3 day General Admission festival ticket.

Chain Gang (6)

PURPOSE: Help load and unload truck with supplies

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a part of a team that moves music stands, kitchen supplies, festival decorations, etc. from original source on November 20, 2024 to the hotel and back again on November 25, 2024.

  • Be able to help lift from 10-50 pounds

Hospitality Volunteers (30)

PURPOSE: Work with hospitality chairs to coordinate food service schedules

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that hospitality room is clean

  • Replenish food and beverage items

  • Work with hospitality chair to coordinate eating schedules

  • Offer musicians hospitality, gratitude, and food without hovering

  • Arrange food on platters

  • Be able to transport food on trays from kitchen area to hospitality suite

  • Practice safe food handling

Venue Host Volunteers (60)

PURPOSE:  Host venue entrances, and welcome guests.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as usher for performances

  • Must be able to stand for 4 hours

  • Serve as usher for performances

  • Open and close doors at appropriate times

  • Check badges to ensure that people have purchased the appropriate tickets

  • Must be strong enough to open and close doors

  • Clean up papers and cups, etc. after each performance

Ticket Sales Volunteers (15)

PURPOSE:  Provide badges, performance schedules, and event information.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use personal iPad or cell  (iPhone only) to check-in guests.

  • Be familiar with ticket options

  • Provide badges and event programs and information

  • Know how to use QR codes

  • Know how to use a credit card machine

Parking Lot Volunteers (TBD)

PURPOSE: Helping festival attendees in the Sheraton parking lot sign in for “Free” parking.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guide festival attendees through the QR code sign-in process for parking.

  • Direct volunteers and guests to overflow parking.

  • Should be comfortable working with a cell phone and entering QR codes.

  • Should be comfortable being outdoors for shift

Signage/Décor Volunteers (15)

PURPOSE: Change signs on sponsors’ tables for each performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Change signs on sponsors for tables for each performance

  • Insert schedule in frame outside each performance venue

  • Work with volunteer coordinator to create signs and graphics on a computer

  • Ability to place signs in a timely manner
