Davy Jones
Davy Jones is well-versed in classic jazz styles, especially the music of the 1920s and 30s. He plays with a beautiful, yet powerful tone that continues to wow audiences.
David "Davy" Jones was born in Tampa Florida and started playing the trumpet at the age of 11. In 1975 he became a full-time musician in both Florida and Georgia. In 1981, Davy moved to Orlando where worked as a staff musician at Walt Disney World. With stints at Sea World, Busch Gardens, and the Delta Queen Steamboat Company, he was a member of Rosie O'Grady's Goodtime Jazz Band, and The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra.
Davy was a member of the acclaimed Black Dog Jazz Band, which featured a virtuoso group of Walt Disney World musicians, led by singer and pianist Tom Hook. The Dogs performed all over the world, including a historic tour of China.
Jones’ first festival appearance was at the 1982 Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival. Since then, he has appeared at more than 50 festivals all over the world, including the Suncoast Jazz Festival. For 2024, Davy hand-picked the members of the Suncoast Seven, including his long-time partner in crime, Tom Hook, just for our festival.
It's a band you may never get a chance to see again. Don't miss it.
