Bakey and Betty
Bakey and Betty are the husband-and-wife duo of Paul (Bakey) and Theresa (Betty) Scavarda.
They play a blend of early jazz and vaudeville delivered with a large dose of comedy. Paul plays banjo, mandolin, and guitar. Theresa sings and plays a mean ukulele.
A native of Indianapolis, Theresa made her stage debut at the age of two in the arms of Yul Brenner in the touring company of The King and I. Her formative years were spent performing in numerous stage productions, cabarets and recording sessions as a background vocalist and jingle singer.
Paul is a native of Los Angeles. He has been a mandolinist with Leon Redbone. He has been a guitarist with John Davidson and a banjoist at Walt Disney World. Yes…Paul, as Paul likes to joke, is quite the has-been.
